Blasting Impact
MCQAG is advocating for residents already effected by blasting impacts felt in surrounding dwellings. The proposed expansion is clearly an incompatible development proposal and would be in direct land use conflict with surrounding residential lifestyle subdivisions.
Residents that surround the mining pit have reported intensification of blasting during 2013-2014 with their houses being shaken on every blast from the mining pit with dwellings showing obvious signs of cracking and dilapidation.
The community has expressed concerns in regards to the positioning and validity of blast monitoring data which has been addressed by the EPA in November 2014 licence variation that now specifies; blasting over pressure and vibration limits now apply at any residents or noise sensitive locations.
The community is concerned that any expansion approval will result in an equal intensification of blasting and resultant dilapidation similar to that seen during 2014.
