Native Habitat

Daracon's proposed expansion of Martins Creek Quarry if approved will result in the clearing of native vegetation that is of conservation significance.

The proposed expansion foot print includes threatened species Eucalyptus glaucoma, wild life corridors and habitat of native fauna including Koalas and Squirrel Gliders.

The 1991 Environmental Impact Assessment relating to the originally proposed 5 hectare western pit highlights that the land is crossed by three creeks that flow to the Paterson River.

The expansion plans submitted to the NSW Department of Planning cover an additional ~35 hectares of land that will be required to be strip cleared, blasted and turned into a mining open cut pit
