Silica Dust
Dust emissions from existing operations have been observed coming from the facility towards residential dwellings that surround the site.
The number of residential dwellings in the area immediatley adjoining the quarry has increased since 1991, in addition to the village of Martins Creek (population 341) there are now multiple dwellings located in Vacy and Martins Creek and Paterson sub division areas all within a 4km radius of the mining pit
It stands to reason that an increase in extraction limits if approved would also result in an increase in material processing and resultant dust emissions as observed in 2014. The NSW Workcover advice indicates that silica dust is harmful with prolonged exposure.
